NACD COMMENDS NRCS FOR 75 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
NACD President Steve Robinson, a producer from Marysville, Ohio, today issued the following statement in recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—April 17, 2010—“Today the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) celebrates its 75th anniversary. On behalf of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and its 3,000 member conservation districts, I want to extend our congratulations to USDA and NRCS for achieving this important milestone.
“I am honored to represent NACD and our members in celebrating today with NRCS, its partners, and current and former leaders in Washington, D.C. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to join these conservation leaders to reflect on the agency’s successes and growth.
“As one of the agency’s oldest partners in helping deliver conservation across the land, NACD and its members believe that NRCS plays a very important role in helping Americans use natural resources wisely while producing food, fiber, habitat and many other ecosystem values. NRCS is the principle driver of private land conservation in this country.
“Conservation districts have shared in much of this important journey and have worked hand-in-hand with NRCS at all levels for more than 60 years. Our unique partnership has resulted in improved conservation delivery and provides landowners with excellent technical and financial assistance, helping them to accomplish their respective conservation goals.
“Again, we extend our best wishes for a well-earned celebration of the agency’s many accomplishments during the past 75 years. We are committed to continue working with the NRCS as a strong and valued partner.”
